Guidelines on how to prepare for our visit

 You can book by either phone or email, please give as much information about your house and flue as possible. Ie semi/detached/bungalow. How many stories? How many chimneys, fireplace?  Type of property? Type of Fireplace? Etc.

The booking office is open 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am to 4pm. There is a personal answer machine after this time.

You will be given an approximate time of visit ie 8am -10am, 9am-12pm, 2pm-5pm etc.
Please be patient with time keeping, previous sweeps and traffic can easily delay the sweeps estimated time of arrival but normally we try our best to be on time.

Please move items on the mantel piece and hearth, remove any un-burnt fuel on the fire.
Any light furnishings or anything of particular value or remove it or for your own “peace of mind” cover it!

Milborrow Chimney Sweeps lay a heavy duty tarpaulin sheets for in front of the fireplace and specially manufactured sweeps soot cloths to shield the fireplace and retain the soot behind.
Particularly on wet days or where there are light carpets we ask that the customers lay a trail of old sheets or newspaper from door to the fireplace for the sweeps to walk on.

Remember to see the brush out of the top of the chimney and make a wish; we cannot guarantee the wish but we can guarantee we have swept the chimney correctly.

The chimney sweep will be using state of the art chimney sweeping equipment.
Please feel free to ask your sweep any questions relating to your fire or chimney.

When the chimney sweeping is completed you will be left with a clean chimney and advice from your cheerful chimney sweep together with the Chimney Sweeping Report for insurance purposes.

When you have booked a chimney sweep, he has allocated the time and driven to your property. If no work can be undertaken he will be entitled to charge a fee for his call to cover time and petrol.

A chimney stack, pot and any cowls should be able to withstand a chimney sweeping, if for any reason a pot/ cowls breaks or become dislodged during this process the sweep cannot take any responsibility.
However, in the unlikely event of an accident Milborrow Chimney Sweeps will endeavour to replace and repair at a reduced charge to the home owner.
