Very subtle option of bird and protection (no water protection) sometime used on listed properties as very minimal.
 
These are Mild Steel and painted black.  
 
Please be aware they are only fitted via pressure and compression within a chimney pot so no guarantee on these and care must be taken when sweeping not to push them out.   Also the chimney pot itself must be sound condition and no cracks.
